Chapter 61 – Club
Seeing the incoming powerful strike of the sword by Newaschin before him, instead of retreating and defending Lucas leapt forward to met the strike head-on.
One may ask him why he was changing his style.
The reason was Lucas always yearned to fight offensively and subdue his opponent. This is the perfect opportunity to fight offensively cause, unlike his previous fight where his life was on the line and where he have to calculate each move carefully before he make a move.
But now, he can just fight to his heart content, in this fight he can let himself loose a bit without thinking about any consequences or risks of his life.
As both their swords collided, Lucas could feel that he was overwhelmed in strength and was forced a few steps back.
Seeing Lucas alright and even managed to take on his full strength sword strike Newaschin expression stiffened.
Although Lucas was forced a few steps back, it didn’t deter him to launch his onslaught of strikes and he carried on attacking, meeting blow after blow.
Lucas didn’t care about winning or losing, he just wanted to immerse himself in meeting the blows as he was slowly started to enjoy the fight.
As both of their swords kept on clashing, small shockwaves started to spread throughout the ring
The students who were looking at the match took a few steps back feeling the pressure coming from the two of them kept on increasing as the two of them engaged in overpowering each other with thier strikes.
At the corner of the club, the President of Sword Club was practising his sword.
Ken who was engrossed in his practice stopped on his tracks on seeing the commotion. Seeing the students gathered near a ring where two students were fighting.
“Hmm. I should take a break,” He muttered.
Putting away his sword, he made his way toward the ring.
He found a member and inquired him about the match which was creating such commotion.
“President that boy is the 1st year. He is going to against that guy to prove his skill to get admitted,” One of the members spoke.
Seeing Ken coming towards the ring to observe the fight, the surrounding member opened a path for him.
” Does he have bronze or silver bloodline?”Ken inquired.
“What I have come to know is he has bronze bloodline.”
Seeing Lucas fighting and taking head-on with the 3-Star second year on the stage, Ken spoke”It doesn’t look like he has a bronze bloodline.”
Rubbing his chin after observing the battle for some time, he spoke”Seeing his swordsmanship, I can say he has already reached the intermediate level.”
The surrounding students who were engrossed in thier fight looked at the boy who spoke about the swordsmanship level and was about to laugh at the one who spoke but seeing the President standing there and observing the match they shut their mouth.
After all, reaching the intermediate stage in any weapon-wielding is not a joke. Even in the second year, only 10% of the whole students have only managed to reach the intermediate stage.
Even Newaschin who is fighting with Lucas is in the beginning stage of swordsmanship.
As they heard from the president about Lucas level they thought that this must be the reason why Lucas can exchange blows with him for a long time without falling back.
After exchanging several blows with Newaschin, Lucas understood one thing that boy before he is fighting like a mad bull without any techniques.
He seems to believe that he can crush everything with raw strength and his strength will also make up for his techniques.
He is nothing but a mere fool. He may be able ro suppress his opponents who have low rank than him but before me, this is all worthless.
Lucas gave him a faint smile after having a good understanding of his mentality.
Newaschin looked at Lucas smile thinking this junior was mocking him.
His eyes became bloodshot with anger after having his pride pricked.
Though he looked serious, he hasn’t thought for a moment that this first year was his opponent and only thought fighting him was waste of time. But after his pride has been crushed by Lucas he wanted to turn a deaf year on the restriction of using mana.
He unleashed his full 3-Star realm pressure which frightened the audiences who were engrossed in watching their fight.
Lucas frowned seeing Newaschin emitting the pressure.
‘This muscle head. Why is he suddenly using mana instead of relying on his physical capabilities in this fight as discussed before.’Lucas muttered.
‘After discovering he can’t defeat me like this. Did he finally decide to ignore the rules?’Lucas thought.
Lucas looked at the instructor who was judging the match. Seeing Lucas anxious look, the instructor understood what he wanted to convey.
Just as he was about to step in. A man from the crowd emerged signalling him that he will take it from here.
The man was none other than Ken, The President of the swords club.
“Junior you can choose to quit the match or you may continue the fight. After all, it’s not good to stop the fight in midway.”
“Don’t worry even if you choose to quit, you are already more than qualified to join the club. As the Club President, I give you guarantee.”Ken spoke, he was curious about Lucas and wanted to see him fighting in full strength.
Seeing Ken stepping forward, Lucas was honestly confused. He dont know whether Ken was picking on him and trying to side with Newaschin after he crushed the pride of the sword club or didn’t want to miss a good fight.
Going by his character description, he shouldn’t be a petty person, picking on others just because someone lower ranked crushed a member of his club.
As far Lucas remembered, he was quite interested in good fights. That also may be the reason he is watching the match, after all, he wouldn’t waste his precious time on someone like me if he wouldn’t find the match interesting.
Lucas nodded and told him that he will continue and then looked at Newaschin who looked at Lucas like a hungry wolf.
Lucas swore in his heart that he will teach this dog a lesson, so that this dog may not bear his fang to anyone randomly.
The serious look Newasschin had, disappeared in a blink of an eye replaced by a leisurely and mocking look.
The smile that he had lost after being led around the nose by Lucas had come back once again. It seemed like his confidence had been restored after feeling the mana in his body. After all, he was sure that his mana and level was in a dominant position which will decide the result of the fight.
“I will be having good timing in offering my sincere guidance to my junior, “Newaschin spoke.
“Don’t lose your heart after the loss. Just think of it as guidance and try to improve.”
“Thanks, senior for wasting your precious time on a junior like me.” Lucas sneered.
‘Guidance, Haaa. Today I will give you the guidance which you will never forget the rest of your lives.’Lucas muttered in a low voice so that others couldn’t hear him
This time Lucas was the first one to make the move. However, Newaschin just swung his sword sloppily and leisurely.
Lucas realized that he was planning to trap him. So instead of charging ahead quickly, to attack, he dragged his steps longer while pretending to attack.
He knew better than anyone else that their opponents wanted to drag their enemies to the bottom with a huge show of their strength.
However, if that is the case then dragging time is the best possible way and would give him the advantage after all opponents like this generally tried to pin their opponent with their strongest move which can’t be repeated.
Newaschin noticed that Lucas is dragging his feet so he started to pressure him harder. He slashed his sword down to force Lucas to block the attack bearing the full brunt of his power.
He believed that Lucas would be forced to block the attack since he has already infused the sword with some mana which made his attack stronger and even if Lucas would able to duck or avoid it the force would be enough to knock him.
Lucas golden eyes showed brightly like a dazzling sun at the moment of Newaschin attack.
Previously Lucas control in mana can be said to be quite poor but after his fight with the slave trader his efficiency in controlling mana had improved significantly and now he can load some of his mana to his sword which was quite an achievement even for genius in this era.
Channelling his mana on his sword he increased his speed to the max and he swing his sword continuously to neutralise the attack.
Newaschin sword seemed to be covered with blue mana which met head-on with Lucas sword having a small golden haze surrounding it. However, the one at the advantage was Lucas.
Although Newaschin strength was superior, Lucas has superior experience and foundation which triumphed over Newaschin.
On the other hand, Lucas also got an advantage in the physiology warfare as Newaschin was under pressure to maintain his face contrary to Lucas.
A huge shockwave spread across the ring much stronger than one previously. The swords which are generally used for the practice became bent due to the collision.
Still, Newaschin didn’t care and tried to attack with the bent sword.
Lucas decided to end the fight cause he was somewhat tired of fighting, a headless bull-like Newaschin.
Lucas used his bent sword to lock Newaschin sword and kicked him in his torso and reclaimed his sword from the lock and poured all his mana and strength aimed at Newaschin neck.
